Woah!

Wowser! I'm amazed this place still exists!!

The question is, do I have the appetite to resurrect it? Does anybody even blog anymore?

Back to the beginning

In the hope that wallowing in my past blogging glories (okay, so I might be wearing some very rose-tinted glasses at the moment) will get myself back into the swing of blogging, I'm re-posting the first edition of my life - one entry at a time.

All entries will be published un-edited. I'm just adding titles and labels to those that haven't already got them.

Here's the momentous occasion when it all began in May 2003.

Well this is it. This is the start of my blog. A momentous occassion, even if I do say so myself.

Did's Life - Read more ... (well, actually, that's it)

Hardly worth repeating, was it? Especially when it contains an horendous spelling mistake! ;)

And I didn't get much better later in the day:

Rushden & Diamonds have just won the Nationwide Division 3 Title, despite a goal from Hartlepool in the last few minutes. The score ended 1-1.

Did's Life - Read more ... (unfortunately, there is a bit more to this one!)

I was never even a Rushden & Diamonds fan. But when you're in rural England, anything that's bigger than a village fete can sweep you off your feet.

I'm back - take II

Nearly 12 months have passed and the urge has returned! It must be something about these cold wintery evenings.

So, after fiddling with the template for a couple of weeks, I think I'm finally ready for the relaunch of my life (in blog terms, at least).

I'm not an expert at editing these templates, so if it looks like a mess in your browser then please let me know. I'm not sure how you'll know whether it's an accidental or intentional mess, but let me know anyway.

Hopefully, this will be the start of a long journey for this blog. I've still got my entries from the first edition of my life (around 2003-2004), and I plan to post those again at some point - probably one at a time with some added notes from the present day!

I also wrote a diary of my first year in Australia, so I'll probably post an edited version of that in the future.

I'm back

I've no idea why, but I suddenly had the urge to bring Did's Life back to ... well, life. And I try not to resist my urges. Which probably explains why I need such thick glasses these days. Anyway... More soon. I hope. Not that anybody will be reading this yet. Unless somebody is constantly googling "Did's Life" in the hope of my return. But I doubt it.

Staying Put

Well, we didn't seem to make it to the new server. But the template worked. I'll investigate the problems FTP'ing to Virgin.net at the weekend.

We're Moving!

ok, here goes. I've designed a basic site and I'm gonna try and move this blog onto it. Hope it all works! You can find my site at http://freespace.virgin.net/d.waller/. See you there!

Edit: This failed miserably coz Virgin.net don't give FTP access to Blogger. Now on Yahoo. 16/07/2003.

Update 23/08/2008 - In the end, I stuck with Blogspot and used Yahoo for hosting the supplementary pages - similar to the current setup.

New Site

Nigels Bash went ok. There were quite a few of us there - it seems that the group has gotten very sociable in the last few days. The host was already pissed very early in the evening, as usual. His girlfriend seems very nice. To be honest, I didn't talk to her much coz she hid herself in the kitchen until most people had gone. Apparently she thought that most of us didn't like her coz there was some sarcastic comments from people before I arrived. All was sorted by the end of the evening and we're all friends now. My diplomatic skills were put to the test, again!

Today is a Bank Holiday in the UK and there was quite nice weather. Most of my mates had to work today, so I stayed a lonely soul and went out to buy a new microwave! My old one didn't respond to any button pushing unless it had been switched off for over 24 hours, and then it only worked the once before it had to be switched off again. But I'm sure you don't want to know about my domestic appliance troubles. Rushden & Diamonds had their open-top bus tour of the area today, to celebrate winning Division 3. The crowds were harldy thronging, but it was nice to see a local team do well.

I've also worked on my new site today, creatively titled "Dids Life". But I need a tag line for the header. If anyone has any ideas email me. I'll write the address here as soon as it goes live.

Update 14/08/2008 - The sister site is no more, it'll just be this blog for now. I aleady have a tag line, but I've updated the email address so if you've got any alternate solutions then please send them in!
